FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Will I have a copay for my therapy appointment ?
Based on information from the insurance companies, we are required to collect copays at the time of service for each appointment that you come to. If we do not receive a copay at the time of service, we will bill you for the copay.

Do I need to bring my......
Walker, cane, knee brace, ankle brace etc.....??
Yes

Why ?
So we can assess how you are using the equipment and to ensure that they are the proper piece of equipment for your functional needs. We also want to make sure that they are the proper fit to give you proper posture therefore giving you the maximum benefit while using them.

What should I not bring to my appointment ?
Due to safety and liability issues children are not allowed into the Therapy gym area. Children that do not need supervision can wait in the waiting area. Please note that there is NO play area for children at the office of NW Therapy.

Out of respect for your treatment and the treatment of the other patients please turn off all cell phone and electronic devices.

What should I wear to Northwest Therapy ?
We believe that optimal, long term results are achieved by incorporating stretching and strengthening exercises. Come to Northwest Therapy ready to work by wearing comfortable, loose fitting clothing that doesn't restrict your movement. We also recommend athletic shoes or other supportive, non-skid shoes for safety while using our equipment. When practical, wear clothing that allows your Therapist to the area being treated, such as shorts if you have a knee injury or a tank top if you have a shoulder injury.

What can I expect when I come to Northwest Therapy ?
Upon referral by your physician, you can set up your initial evaluation at a NWPC facility or call NWT. The evaluation will last approximately 60 minutes. It is recommended that you wear comfortable clothes and that you come 15 minutes early to complete admission paperwork. It is also recommended that you bring a list of medication you are currently taking and a copy of your insurance card.

Because you are an integral member of the therapy team, you will be requested to complete a screening form that will be used to help set up your treatment program and goals for therapy.

A licensed physical or occupational therapist will conduct the initial evaluation based on the reason you were referred for therapy. During the evaluation, the therapist will take measurements of your strength, range of motion, balance, etc. Your therapist will use the information gained from the evaluation and your input to set up a treatment plan specifically for you. In addition, you may also receive some initial treatment or home exercise program.

On subsequent visits, you will be seen by the staff most appropriately trained to provide your specific treatment. Staff you see may include a physical therapy assistant or a physical therapy aide. Your treatment will usually last for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Treatments typically include a warm-up exercise program, individualized treatments based on your physical problem and an individualized home exercise program.

Northwest Therapy staff will work with you, as a team member to help you improve strength, flexibility, function and control pain to help you on the road to recovery as quickly as possible. Your muscles are in training and each and every visit and/or exercise session you miss keeps you from healing properly. Our goal is to make your rehab experience as effective and comfortable as possible. We welcome your input throughout your course of therapy.

How can I make the most of my therapy appointments ?
We value the time we spend with each patient. To help make your time spent here more enjoyable and productive please take note of the following information.

Allow 15 minutes prior to your initial evaluation (your very first visit) to fill out paperwork.

If you feel or know that you will be late for your scheduled appointment, please call to let us know.

If for some reason you need to cancel an appointment, please call us 24-48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment so that we make book this time for other patients who need appointments.

If you do not show for a scheduled appointment a note is sent to your physician. This can affect further appointments, referrals and insurance payment.

Again, we value the time we spent with each patient and want to make the most of our time for your appointments.
