Personal Information: I have been a Physical Therapist for over 10 years, and every day I go to work, there is something new to learn. I was drawn to Physical Therapy as a grad student (my undergraduate degree is in English) because of the dynamic nature of the work and my desire to have a medical career where I could help people regain their prior level of function after injury or surgery. I’m a lifelong sports and physical fitness enthusiast who’s had her share of sports injuries, so I felt I would be able to relate to people coming in for treatment. I was also attracted to the many areas of Physical Therapy from which to choose, such as outpatient orthopedic clinics like Northwest Therapy where I work, to acute care and rehabilitation in a hospital setting.
At Northwest Therapy, we see patients who do not require hospitalization or who have been sent home from the hospital, but are still recovering. The cases we treat include shoulder and knee tendonitis; back and neck pain; tennis and golfer’s elbow; pain after car accidents; pain after surgeries, such as knee or hip replacements or rotator cuff repair; among many others. You can see why we are never bored and that each day presents new and interesting challenges! I especially enjoy working with different patient populations of all ages, ranging from children to even 100-year-olds.
My family and I moved to Oregon from New England and love life out here in the great Northwest! Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, hiking, running, cycling and weight training. I have greatly enjoyed hiking up Mt. St. Helens, exploring the trails in the Columbia Gorge and climbing Smith Rock, among many other beautiful outdoor adventures. For the last three years, I have been a team member of either the Hood to Coast Relay Run or Portland to Coast Relay Walk – a lot of fun, but crazy races at times! For the last several years, I have also done the Bridge Pedal with my son, Brandon. I’m looking forward to having him on his own bike soon, rather than as a tag-along.
I plan on being a staff member at Northwest Therapy for a long time to come. It’s a great place to work, with a committed, knowledgeable staff who works as a team, utilizing the latest therapies such as ASTYM®. We all look forward to continuing to treat the Clackamas community and helping people enjoy happy, healthy and fit lifestyles.
