What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that will allow us to examine, evaluate, and treat the area of concern.

When should I arrive?

Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your appointment time.

How long will my visit be?

PT visits last from 45-60 minutes.

If I have questions before my visit, can I call the clinic?

Don’t hesitate to call us! We are happy to set you up for success. You can reach our team at (503) 353-1278.

Who We Are

Northwest Therapy provides comprehensive physical therapy services. It is our belief that physical therapy is best accomplished when patient education and patient involvement are part of the development of the plan of care. Each of our therapists has extensive discussions with their patients about the treatment, outcome expectations, and specifically, the patient’s role and duties outside of the clinic environment. Our goal is for the patient to achieve maximum levels of functioning through the development of treatment programs that can be tailored to the individual patient.

Northwest Therapy is affiliated with Northwest Primary Care, which has been a provider of medical services in Portland for over 30 years. Our patients receive the same dedicated innovation for their rehabilitative needs as they do with their routine and advanced medical care. This continuum allows the patient’s progress to be monitored more thoroughly by both physicians and therapists.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is physical therapy?

Chances are physical therapy may have been mentioned as a solution to the pain your are dealing with on a daily basis. If you want to become stronger, more mobile, and perform better, a physical therapy evaluation and plan can give you a beneficial direction.

In our evaluation, we address your questions and concerns, evaluate your limitations and design a plan of care to guide you towards function. You may be given instructions on a home program to compliment your continued therapy care.

How long will it take me to start feeling better?

The number one question we hear is: “How long will it take for me to feel better?” This answer varies from patient to patient and depends on a variety of factors like severity, time-frame, previous injury, comorbidities, and age. These factors, along with consistent therapy sessions, play an important role in determining your prognosis.

Do I need a referral to visit Northwest Therapy?

You may need a referral before being evaluated, but that varies depending on current insurance coverage. Please call the office at 503.353.1278.  If you are a patient with Northwest Primary Care, we usually receive a direct referral from your PCP.

Do I need imaging prior to my appointment?

Sometimes imaging can be helpful, but certainly not required.  We will coordinate with your physician to determine the need for future imaging.

What insurance does Northwest Therapy accept?

We accept most major insurance plans and will gladly work with you and your insurance company to confirm your benefits prior to your appointment. You will then know what to expect to pay on your first visit.

Can I pay cash?

Yes. We also provide a significant discount for paying in cash.
